Metro Remittance Singapore Private Limited (MRSPL) is one of the leading money service businesses in Singapore for Philippine-bound remittances. MRSPL is 100% owned by Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company (Metrobank), one of the largest banks in the Philippines. Metrobank belongs to a diversified financial conglomerate with businesses in investment banking, insurance, and leasing and financing, among others.

 

MRSPL has been operating in Singapore for nearly two decades. It is licensed and regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to provide remittance services. On a regular basis, MRSPL undergoes several types of audits to ensure that the company’s operations are compliant with existing laws, regulations, and best practices. Annually, it undergoes both internal (from Metrobank) and external audit, while periodically it undergoes audits from its regulatory bodies MAS and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

 

MRSPL caters wholly to the Filipino market in Singapore and has both the experience and expertise to service the needs of its clients. It provides competitive rates and fees to its clients ensuring convenience of transactions at an affordable cost.

SERVICES

MRSPL offers remittance services for both retail and corporate clients.

Retail
Retail clients, or individual clients, are typically Filipino OFWs or migrants based in Singapore sending
money to their families in the Philippines. For retail clients, the following services are offered:
• Remit to Account – funds will be remitted to the beneficiary’s peso account in any local bank
in the Philippines, provided the account is active
• Cash Pick-up – funds will be available for pick-up by the beneficiary subject to the
presentation of one (1) valid government ID. Remittance may be picked up from any of the
80,000 outlets nationwide of the following payout partners: MLhuillier, Cebuana Lhuillier,
LBC, Palawan Pawnshop, RD Pawnshop, Villarica Pawnshop, Puregold, and Robinsons
Department Store
• Credit to e-wallets in the Philippines – funds will be remitted to the beneficiary’s e-wallet
account in the Philippines, including GCash, PayMaya, Coins Ph, GrabPay, ShopeePay, or
JuanCash
• Bills Payment – clients in Singapore who are regularly paying for bills in the Philippines may
also course their payments through MRSPL, provided the company or bill they are paying for
is enrolled as a biller with MRSPL (e.g. PhilHealth, SSS, Pag-Ibig etc.)

Corporate
Corporate clients are Singapore-based businesses that have regular payments and transfers to its
stakeholders in the Philippines. For corporate clients, the following services are offered:
• Remit to Account – funds will be remitted to the Filipino stakeholder’s peso account in any
local bank in the Philippines, provided the account is active
• Credit to e-wallets in the Philippines – funds will be remitted to the beneficiary’s e-wallet
account in the Philippines, including GCash, PayMaya, Coins Ph, GrabPay, ShopeePay, or
JuanCash
• Bills Payment – corporate clients in Singapore who are regularly paying for bills in the
Philippines may also course their payments through MRSPL, provided the company or bill they
are paying for is enrolled as a biller with MRSPL (e.g. PhilHealth, SSS, Pag-Ibig etc.)

For large remittance amounts per transaction, clients are able to enjoy better rates and lower fees.

Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)

1. Metro Remittance Singapore Pte Ltd (MRSPL) is licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to remit funds to beneficiaries outside of Singapore and to carry out money-changing business. As such MRSPL needs to collect, use, disclose and/or process your personal data in order to process your remittance request. Such personal data includes information about you, set out in your application forms and documents and any other personal information provided by you or that we obtain about you whether now or in the future.

2. We will/may collect, use, disclose and/or process your personal data for one or more of the following purposes:

a) Considering and/or processing your application/transaction with us

b) Carrying out your instructions or responding to any enquiry given by you or on your behalf.

c) Carrying out due diligence including identity verification or other screening activities (including background checks) in accordance with legal or regulatory obligations

d) Conducting research, analysis and development activities to improve our services and facilities in order to enhance your relationship with us.

e) Storing, hosting, backing up (whether for disaster recovery or otherwise) of your personal data, whether within or outside Singapore.               

f) Meeting any regulatory and legal obligations both local and foreign (collectively, the “Purposes”).

3. We will also be collecting from sources other than yourself, personal data about you, for one or more of the above Purposes, and thereafter using, disclosing and/or processing such personal data for one or more of the above Purposes.

4. MRSPL may/will need to disclose your personal data to third parties, whether located within or outside Singapore, for one or more of the above Purposes, as such third parties, would be processing your personal data for one or more of the above Purposes. In this regard, you hereby acknowledge, agree and consent that we may/are permitted to disclose your personal data to such third parties (whether located within or outside Singapore) for one or more of the above Purposes and for the said third parties to subsequently collect, use, disclose and/or process your personal data for or more of the above Purposes.
